Protergium and Tropfen Launch TROPBIO TEN: A New Step in Sustainable Crop Protection

On April 23rd, Protergium held the official launch of TROPBIO TEN, a new bioproduct developed in collaboration with Tropfen S.A.. This development represents a significant advancement in sustainable crop management, combining biotechnology with practical application in the field.

TROPBIO TEN is based on Trichoderma koningiopsis, a microorganism known for its effectiveness in controlling plant diseases. Its formulation includes a unique Tropfen adjuvant that enhances droplet spread over hydrophobic surfaces and facilitates penetration through leaf stomata. This leads to improved coverage, increased biocontrol efficiency, and better overall crop health and productivity.

During the launch, Dr. Darío Germán Vileta, Ph.D, Scientific Director at Protergium, shared the scientific basis of the formulation and led a guided tour of our facilities to present the research and production processes involved.

The event also featured presentations by key representatives from Tropfen and Agroestrategias:

HELM Delegation Visits Protergium for Strategic Review and R&D Alignment

Protergium recently hosted a delegation from our strategic partner, HELM, at our production facility for a meeting focused on strengthening our joint development efforts across key global markets.

During the visit, the HELM team presented a detailed update on the status of Protergium’s developments in strategic regions, including the United States, Europe, Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina. The discussion centered on identifying the main formulation and regulatory challenges in each market, with the objective of accelerating the path to registration and commercialization.

The teams worked together to define specific technical hurdles and regulatory barriers currently slowing progress. As a result, a clear action plan was proposed to overcome these limitations, enabling faster and more efficient advancement of our portfolio.

The meeting also included a comprehensive review of ongoing projects and new technologies under development within Protergium’s pipeline, aligning R&D priorities with commercial opportunities in each region.

In 2025 at Protergium, we are taking a key step in our growth with an ambitious expansion plan that will allow us to strengthen our production capacity and meet the growing demand of the market. As part of this process, we are in the final stage of building a new, larger plant with cutting-edge technology, scheduled to open in July. We are a company driven by innovation and sustainability. This expansion not only represents an increase in our production, but also an improvement in the efficiency of our processes and a greater commitment to the development of sustainable biosolutions for the agroindustrial sector.

Corteva Launches First Foliar Biofungicide: “Bexfond FA”.

Mar del Plata, June 14, 2024 – Corteva Agriscience and Protergium are pleased to announce the official launch of Bexfond FA, the first foliar biological fungicide developed by Protergium exclusively for Corteva. This innovative product was developed to control pathogens in various crops, with its first release targeting potato cultivation.

Since 2019, Corteva and Protergium have been closely collaborating on this development, building on their previous relationship through global research agreements for R&D. This strategic alliance marks a significant milestone with the launch of Bexfond FA, highlighting the strength of cooperation between the two companies.

Corteva’s Global Biocontrol Manager, Francisco Javier García, commented: “Corteva’s model puts the needs of the producer at the center, and this agreement with Protergium reflects the focus on developing cutting-edge, differentiated biological solutions that help producers overcome the challenges they face in today’s agriculture. With the launch of Bexfond FA, we offer a new technological solution to all producers. This biofungicide protects productive potential, increases profitability, and adds sustainable value to production.”

Adrián Rovetto, President of Protergium, emphasized the importance of this agreement: “This launch not only strengthens our position in the market but also demonstrates Protergium’s commitment and capacity for innovation. The biological fungicide Bexfond FA has as its active ingredient a biocontrol bacterium, Bacillus velezensis strain T2, selected from over 500 microorganisms in Protergium’s collection. This product has been validated in laboratory and field trials for over four years, demonstrating high efficacy in controlling numerous pathogens. Its application will be extended to other crops such as peanuts, grapes, soybeans, wheat, barley, and tomatoes, among others, with an initial focus on intensive crops.

The launch of Bexfond FA took place on June 5 in Mar del Plata and was exclusively focused on potato cultivation. It was attended by over 150 participants, including producers, technicians, companies dedicated specifically to potato cultivation, and authorities. Mariano Di Miro, biocontrol development manager, highlighted the technical benefits of Bexfond FA for disease control such as Phytophthora and Alternaria for this crop.

HELM AG and Protergium announce the growth of their strategic partnership. The two companies have signed an agreement to expand their successful alliance from Argentina to Mexico. The partnership between Protergium and HELM allows HELM to access alternative crop protection products in selected regions, underlining both companies’ commitment to sustainable agriculture by providing innovative solutions that respond to growing market needs.

Together, the two companies have developed a broad portfolio of biological crop protection solutions, marketed in Argentina since 2021. Under this recent collaboration agreement, Protergium is committed to providing distribution rights to HELM de México SA with a innovative bionematicide designed for the treatment of emblematic crops in Mexico, such as pepper and tomato.
